Lower the bar...

I decided the pipes weren't making the noise I wanted them to, so I got the original pipes and cut the mufflers off - then I had a foot or so of straight pipe welded onto the ends. I ordered some baffles off fleabay and put them in the end after slash cutting and filing down the edges/ends of the pipes - look pretty good! To make them mean, of course I then wrapped them in some new black (as opposed to the grey I got last time, that the supplier called black!) heat wrap...the result:

I still haven't got around to painting the rear fender with some lace work, but it's definitely still on the 'to do' list!
I decided to change the bars back to the original wide/low ones, as I was getting nerve pains in my left hand/thumb from the mini-apes.
I also spent some time over Easter with my Father in Law cutting/shaping/welding up a gear rack and the means to mount a passenger - I chopped down the original fender supports and welded them up clean at the end - this way I can mount them and the luggage rack etc without infringing on the indicators. We also welded the mounting points on to the sissy bar - all needs a good scrub and a powder coat, but should do the job when done.

The Test Mount was a bit wonky! but there's adjustments for that :) I'm thinking black sissy bar for now, but possibly gold...not sure!

Admittedly, after changing the bars I was still getting a bit sore - I decided to see if it was the bike, or just my position on it....plus it was a good excuse to buy this:

A 2005 Triumph Daytona 650 - Love it!

So at the moment, while the nice weather is still around (looks to be turning bad next week!) I have been enjoying riding both the Bobber and the Daytona - worlds apart in performance, style, riding position etc, but both have their place on the road and in my garage! :)

Enjoy the ride...

Well, not a lot of progress has been made since the last post - I have been busy riding and thoroughly enjoying my bike :) I have received some very positive feedback from people, mostly ones I know, but it's still nice to get compliments.

The last two weeks I have been pretty much bed/couch bound while I recover from an operation, which has meant a lot of time sitting, googling and messing around on the tablet PC thinking of things I can do to my bike. There's already a list as long as my arm including making a passenger mount, gear rack mount, sissy bar etc etc....but I decided that I really want this bike to stand out - I want it to have something that your average bike on the road doesn't have...so I've had a few ideas and the last couple of days I've had a bit of energy and been able to free myself from the aforementioned couch, so here's a bit of a look at what's been happening...

- Front fender laced
- Peg springs replaced with barrel springs. Also trialed a method for hard mounting the seat in place...almost there, but needs some more work. Will see how the barrel springs go for now!
- Under seat 'pan' laced. I plan to carry this paint onto the rear fender in between the gold lines (the 'H' pattern). Still deciding on how to paint the headlight, but that's on the list too!
- Sissy bar made and mounting tabs welded on - shown here being test fitted and marking location of mounting point for fender and indicators. Colour to be decided...probably black

Still can't decide if I want to replace (with a peanut tank) or not - I LOVE the look, but I really enjoy the fact it currently holds 15 litres, and the peanut would drop it down to about 9 litres....hmmm.

Lots more to come, but that will do for this post :)
